Weekly Check-In - May 23, 2026

Tomorrow is the Day of Pentecost, when the church of Jesus Christ celebrates its birthday and along with it the gift of the Holy Spirit which Jesus had told the disciples to wait for. The liturgical color of the day is red, the worship team will have some special pieces in place for worship tomorrow, and as is always our custom (and truly the custom at many churches on Pentecost Sunday) you are encouraged to wear red. The red is a reminder of the tongues of fire that appeared on the heads of the disciples (see the story in Acts 2 - we'll read it tomorrow). Fire is a symbol of the presence of God's Spirit with us, one of the reasons we light candles each week, again representing the presence of God's Spirit in our Sanctuary.

Also tomorrow we'll begin a new Sunday School Class that will explore the Holy Spirit and will continue through the month of June. Want to learn about the Holy Spirit from all across the scriptures? This will be the class for you. Please consider joining us.

Text for tomorrow…
Acts 2:1-21, Psalm 104:24-34,35b, Numbers 11:24-30
Sermon…
"The Arrival of the Holy Spirit?"

The Tuesday Morning Prayer Group will meet this Tuesday, May 26, at 11 a.m. in the Activities Building.

The Session invites you to join in a cleaning day the morning of Saturday, May 30. We will work between 9 and noon. Come for whatever part of that you may have available. The work will mostly be inside, but if you want to be outside you can probably find something to do there as well.

The Choir is singing in worship tomorrow and then taking a break. We are thankful for the gifts of Joyce Jaco, Judy Morris, and Twila Hartmans who have each provided leadership for our efforts. And thank you to everyone who has lent their voice in song. Music is so important and so impactful and definitely reaches a place where words alone cannot travel. Thank you for making a joyful noise and enhancing our worship.

Session members, if you are in worship tomorrow, please stay after for a brief meeting to discuss the meeting scheduled for this coming Thursday.

Graduate Recognition: We will honor our Hebron graduates on a Sunday in June, likely June 14. If you have anyone in your family or that you are aware of in the Hebron family who graduated from any level of school let us know so we can add their name to the list and celebrate them.

Celebrate Life!
